GameStop CEO J. Paul Raines Dies After Bout With Cancer

Julian Paul Raines, who was CEO of Grapevie, Texas-based GameStop in November of last year, has died due to complications with cancer, the company announced on Monday. According to current CEO Mike Mauler--who has been serving as CEO only since February--confirmed Raines' death on Monday. Mauler called Rains a "a brilliant man and remarkable visionary" and said he was a "compassionate, caring and inspirational community leader who was beloved by many." Raines had been CEO of GameStop since 2010. He underwent brain surgery in 2014 to remove a small, cancerous tumor in his brain. Raines was 53.
