GameStop Names New CEO

Grapevine, Texas-based GameStop said on Thursday that it has named George Sherman as CEO of the videogame retailer. GameStop said that Sherman also joins the company's board of directors. SHerman was most recently CEO of Victra, an authorized retailer for Verizon Wireless products and services, and also had served at such companies as Advance Auto Parts, Best Buy, Target Corporation and Home Depot. Sherman replaces interim CEO Shane Kim, who has been leading GameStop as CEO since May. The appointment comes just a few months after GameStop abandoned efforts to sell the company. Gamestop has been in some executive turmoil since the unfortunate death of CEO J. Paul Raines back in March of 2018, of cancer--Raines had stepped away from his CEO post back in November of 2017.
