Mavenir Buys Brocade's Virtual Evolved Packet Core Business

Richardson-based Mavenir Systems, which develops hardware for the telecommunications market, said on Monday afternoon that it has acquired the Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) business of Brocade Communications Systems. Financial terms of the transaction were not announced. Mavenir said the deal included all associated intellectual property (IP), including 22 granted and pending patents, a research and development facility in Mumbai, India and associated customer support and maintenance contracts. Mavenir said it also will hire "certain" Brocade employees associated with the vEPC business.
