AT&T Steps Up Artificial Intelligence Efforts

Dallas-based AT&T, as part of its move further into the technology world, is unveiling a big push into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) today, with a platform it calls Acumos. The new, open-source platform is aimed at enabling programmers and researchers to more easily develop machine learning and AI software, pitting AT&T against such companies as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. According to AT&T, the new software is a collaboration with Tech Mahindra, and will be hosted by The Linux Foundation. AT&T said Acumos is an extensible framework for machine learning solutions, with the capability to edit, integrate, compose, package, train and deploy AI microservices.
