Whole Foods, Instacart Announce Expansion Plans

Austin-based Whole Foods Market and delivery service Instacart said this morning that the two are working to expand their partnership, growing the service into new cities and expanding the number of Whole Foods Market stores with embedded Instacart shoppers by up to 50 percent in 2016. The two said the first two markets slated for expansion are Orange County, California and Baltimore, Maryland. The two have partnered since September of 2014 on the delivery efforts. Instacart offers up same day delivery services via a mobile app, tapping into a network of crowdsourced workers. Whole Foods will make an undisclosed equity investment in Instacart as part of the expanded partnership.
