Vapor IO Launches New Product

Austin-based Vapor.io, the developer of modular data center technology, said it has launched a new product called the Vapor Open Data Center Runtime Environment (OpenDCRE). The company said the new platform uses products from the Open Compute Project (OCP), AppliedMicro Circuits Corporation (AMCC), and BASELAYER to specifically address physical infrastructures for DevOps. VaporIO said the intent of the new product is to overcome proprietary, rackscale architecture and infrastructure and eliminate vendor lock-in in data centers. Vapor is venture backed by Goldman Sachs and AVX Partners, and raised a Series A funding in December.
