Unwired Nation Raises $6.5M

Austin-based Unwired Nation, a provider of mobile application development services and platforms, is announcing today that it has raised $6.5M in a funding round, which it is using to expand its offices, employees, and executives. The firm, which is headed by Eric Smith, said the funding was led by local investor Dale Quisenberry, who founded Crossroads Systems. Other investors in the firm are Eric Simone of Corsa Ventures, who was an early investor in BazaarVoice, and Irl Nathan, who was at Bindview and also is an investor in Caringo. The company said its adviors include Steve Vandegrift (Pipeline Success), Geoff Tudor (HP) and Justin Halloran (WhaleShark). Unwired Nation's Smith has previously been at BroadQ and Gocho Networks.
