TigerDirect Buys CompUSA Stores

New York-based Systemax, the parent company of online and catalog retailer TigerDirect, said this weekend that it has agreed to acquire selected assets and retail stores of Dallas-based CompUSA. According to Systemax, it will purchase the CompUSA brand, trademarks, and e-commerce business, and as many as 16 of its retail outlets. The deal is worth approximately $30M. CompUSA said in December that it would shut down its operations, due to fierce competition in the industry.
