The Planet Targets London Facility

IT hosting firm The Planet reported Monday that it will open its first international data center in April. According to the Houston-based company, the facility will be based in London and is a response to customer demand for globally redundant hosted infrastructure. "With 42 percent of our customers located in international markets, we expect considerable interest in this new operation," said Douglas J. Erwin, The Planet's chairman and chief executive officer in a statement. The company also said it has partnered with London-based TelecityGroup, which operates 20 network-independent data centers in seven European countries. Pre-leasing for the London data center will begin immediately, The Planet added.
