Texas Utilities Line Up Behind Green Button Effort
A number of electric utilities in Texas are paving the way for standardized, energy usage information, and have lined up behind the "Green Button" effort by the White House, to standardize downloading of energy usage information. According to the White House today, it added nine major utilities and electricity suppliers to the effort, which presents a "Green Button" on those utilities' web sites to allow consumers to easily download their electric usage data in a standardized format. Among the new utilities were American Electric Power, Austin Energy, CenterPoint Energy, and Reliant, all of which serve customers in Texas. Texas utilities represented the vast majority of firms signing on to the new effort.
