Texas Teams Make It To Robot Race

Two Texas teams have made it to the semifinals of DARPA's upcoming robot race in October, DARPA announced today. DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is running the Urban Challenge, a race for fully autonomous vehicles in November, pitting robot vehicles against a city racecourse. The two Texas teams which made the cut include Austin Robot Technology, based in Austin, and Team Berlin, out of Houston. The Urban Challenge is a followup to DARPA's Grand Challenge, which resulted in the first fully automous, robot car to make its way across a desert racecourse without human guidance.
