A report released today by industry group TechAmerica reports that Texas is the second largest "cyberstate," an analysis of trends in high tech employment. TechAmerica -- which is the new name of the merged AeA and Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) -- said that it found that Texas had the largest high-tech employment gains in the nation in 2007 -- the latest employment numbers available. According to the report, Texas added 14,700 high tech jobs, with a total of 474,100 people employed by the industry. That makes Texas the second largest state by technology employment, behind California and ahead of New York. The biggest gains in employment in 2007 for the state was computer systems design and related services, with 7,700 jobs gained, followed by engineering services with 4,400 jobs.
