Texas Instruments Gives $3M To Local Schools

Dallas-based Texas Instruments Foundation, the nonprofit philanthropic arm of Texas Instruments, is giving $3M to help train middle and junior high school teachers in advanced math and science, the foundation said Wednesday. According to the foundation, it will give $1.5M to Laying the Foundation, which provides advanced training to 10 middle and junior high schools in the Dallas, Garland and Richardson school districts, and $1.5M to UTeach, a program which helps college undegraduates become secondary math and science teachers. UTeach will use the funding for seven teachers at The University of North Texas, The University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington.
