Texas Firms Find $247.9M In VC Funding In Q2, Says Report

The latest MoneyTree Venture Capital report, from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data from Thomson Reuters, was released Tuesday evening, finding that Texas companies raised a total of $247.9M in venture capital funding in Q2 of 2011, spread across 38 deals. That amount was roughly equivalent to Q1, when $263.9M was invested across 36 deals.

Nationally, venture capitalists invested $7.5 billion in 955 deals in Q2 of 2011, which was up 19 percent in terms of both dollars and deals versus Q1. The report noted that Internet specific investments hit a 10-year high during the quarter, with investment numbers overall representing the highest level of investment in a single quarter since the second quarter of 2008.
