Texas Firm Sued By Microsoft, Google Over Patent

A Plano-based firm, Geotag Inc., has been sued by both Microsoft and Google over that firm's used of a geotagging patent to sue more than 300 customers, according to legal filings by the firms this week. The lawsuit, filed in the Delaware District Court, looks to overturn the patent held by Geotag, U.S. patent No. 5,930,474. Microsoft and Google claim that GeoTag has been suing its customers who use Google Maps and Bing Maps, and that the patent office overlooked prior art in granting the patent.
