Texas Firm Dangles $10K To .NET Developers

Houston-based HCSS, a developer of estimating, bidding, and other software for utility and infrastructure contractors, announced this week that the firm has put together a contest which will challenge programmers to create an application in .NET using an SQL database. The winner wins $10,000, with $5,00 to second place, $3,000 for third place, $2,000 for fourth place, and $1,000 for fifth place entries. The contest is part of an effort by the company to find talented employees: the firm said contest winners will also get a job interview with the company, if they'd like. "We are always looking for great people, and this is something new we're trying to find really talented programmers," explained Sebabi Leballo, Organizational Development Manager at HCSS, when asked about the contest. Leballo said, "If someone can quickly learn our customer industry and can develop a prototype of an application we already sell, then they are definitely worth considering for employment with us."
