Tech Votes Austin Aims To Increase Local Tech Participation In Politics

A new group, Tech Votes Austin--made up of a group of volunteers from local startups--is hoping to spur people in the local technology community to register to vote and be heard. The group--which is being supported by such companies as Aceable, WP Engine, Umbel, Square Root, HomeAway, Silicon Labs, Capital Factory, Civitas Learning, Sunpower, Q2, Zenoss, BP3, the Austin Technology Council, and many others--said it is working with Austin's technology companies and their employees to increase participation in local and national elections. The effort comes after high profile issues with local governments and such technology services as Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb.
