Robots To Deliver Pizza In Houston

Residents in Houston are about to become the first in the nation to get delivery of their pizzas via robot, thanks to a pilot being run by Domino's Pizza and autonomous delivery vehicle developer Nuro, the two companies said on Monday. According to the two, a fleet of custom, unmanned vehicles from Nuro will delivery pizza across public roads in Houston, to "select" Houston Domino's customers. According to the two, the pizza delivery will start later this year. Nuro is already running pilot operations in Houston, which it started in March. According to the pizza chain and Nuro, "select" customers who order online from one of the participating stores in Houston will get autonomous delivery and ability to track their order; users get a special "PIN" code to unlock their pizza from the Nuro vehicle when it is delivered. Neither Domino's nor Nuro said exactly what parts of Houston they plan to offer the service; however, Nuro has been in a partnership with Kroger since March on grocery deliveries in Houston.
