MassChallenge Texas Gives $500K To Eight Startups

Startup accelerator operator MassChallenge awarded eight startups a total of $500,000 this week, as part of the MassChallenge Texas accelerator progrm. MassChallenge---which ran an awards ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Austin on Wednesday--its $100,000 winners were Austin-based EQO, a company developing molecular products to solve environmental problems and Austin-based Sempulse, developing vital sign monitoring devices; $75,000 Platinum winners were Austin-based Cloud9, which is working in the area of mental healthcare, and San Antonio-based medical products developer NovoThelium. At the $50,000 level, the accelerator selected Greek company Augmenta (machine vision/learning for fertilization and pesticide spraying) and Austin's GrubTubs (food waste recycling). Finally, the group said it awarded $25,000 to Austin's Popspots (physical ad network) and Washington, D.C.-based The Mentor Method, a mentoring/inclusive workspace startup.
