American Airlines Computer Glitch Leaves Planes Without Pilots For Holidays

A glitch in the computer scheduling system used by American Airlines has left the airline company without needed pilots over Christmas, and throughout the holiday season a pilot's union revealed on Wednesday. The union said that American's management said it has "significant holes" in its holiday operations, and that "thousands of flights" do not have pilots assigned to fly them during the upcoming critical holiday period. American apparently is attempting to resolve the scheduling glitch by offering its pilots 1.5 times their usual pay for filling in on the flights.
