SpareFoot Hosts Street Store For Homeless In Austin

Austin-based self storage marketplace operator SpareFoot said it is again hosting a "Street Store" to help provide clothing for the homeless community, as part of its community outreach efforts. According to SpareFoot, it will be holding the "Street Store" event today, Friday, September 15th, on the Central Presbyterian Church sidewalk on 8th street. SpareFoot--which ran a similar event in 2015 with the Central Presbyterian Church--said it will be again staffing the "pop up" store. At the last event, SpareFoot said it gave away around 1,000 pounds of clothing and shoes to more than 200 people in need. SpareFoot is among the most active local tech companies in reaching out to the local community: the company recently offered up free temporary storage for Hurricane Harvey victims, raised money for local Austin animal rescue organizations, has been a major force behind the Austin Startup Games, has pushed other startups to help support the Capital Area Food Bank--just to mention a small number of the company's corporate charity efforts.
