GameStop Upsets Employees With Plans To Open On Thanksgiving

Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop's employees are reportedly upset with the retailer, after it announced plans to stay open on Thanksgiving this year, according to a report on Tuesday. According to gaming industry site Kotaku, GameStop announced the plan to stay open over Thanksgiving in a series of conference calls to its employees on Tuesday morning. GameStop had decided three years ago to not open on Thanksgiving, saying that its associates and employees had requested time with their families. GameStop's decision to open on Thanksgiving comes thanks to increasing pressure from other retailers, who in the last few years have started opening up on Thanksgiving to try to get a jump on customers before the traditional Black Friday opening of holiday sales.
