Videogame Players Raise $100,000 For Texas Charities

What the heck is a virtual, ice-skating llama, and what does that llama have to do with charities in Texas? Apparently, the ice skating llama has raised $100,000 for two Texas children's charities--the Austin Children's Shelter and Children's Medical Center at Legacy--due to the purchases of the in-game virtual llama in the massively multiplayer online games developed by Plano's KingIsle Entertainment. KingIsle reports today that it will be donating $100,000 to two, Texas charities dedicated to children, after raising that money from players of its two games, Wizard101 and Pirate101. According to KingIsle, it created a special holiday charity llama--which was available in both games--where purchases of those llamas went towards the charity effort. The funds were raised from the sale of a "Fa-la-la-la Llama"--a virtual, ice-skating llama which carried characters around the two games.
