Spiceworks Sees Growth In Budgets, Hiring Plans

Austin-based Spiceworks, the developer of ad-supported, social IT management software, said today that the firm is seeing the "strongest gains" in 18 months in budgets and IT staffing plans among small and mid-sized businesses. The company said the details came from a February study of more than 3,000 IT professionals, via its Spiceworks Voice of IT Market Research Program. The firm said the study showed "significant growth" among budgets and staff in 2011, compared with the second half of 2010, with IT budgets growing eight percent in 2011. The company also said its survey found that nearly one in three SMBs--31 percent--are planning to hire IT staff, its largest increase in the past 18 months.
