Spiceworks Behind Launch Of IT Startup Workspot

Austin-based Spiceworks, which develops IT management software, has a new line of business: helping startups get off the ground. According to Spiceworks, it has helped a second, IT startup get its offering off the ground via its SpicePanel services, Workspot, a developer of enterprise mobility apps. Workspot announced a $1.9M seed funding Wednesday for its software, aimed at BYOD (bring your own device) access to enterprise applications. Spiceworks said that its SpicePanels were used by Workspot ahead of its funding, to help develop the startups' business. Spiceworks also recently was behind a beta test from Pertino, which just raised $20M in a Series B funding for its cloud-based WAN offerings.
