Sparefoot Gets Into Spare Feet (Not)

It had to happen, given its name. Austin-based Sparefoot, the online self-storage marketplace, said that it is getting into "prosthetic feet" today. The firm quoted an "expert" saying that "SpareFoot is a shoe-in to corner the underserved market of those who accidentally drop heavy boxes on themselves during a move." Not fooled? Sparefoot joined such high tech companies as Virgin America (glass bottomed plane), Google (Google nose), and others in announcing a fake product Monday, part of an annual tradition of outlandish product announcements on April 1st by the industry.
