SoftLayer Acquired By IBM

Dallas-based cloud computing and Internet hosting firm SoftLayer Technologies is being acquired by IBM, IBM said Tuesday, to help create a new IBM division around cloud services. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. IBM said that SoftLayer will become a new cloud services division for IBM, and help it strengthen its position in cloud computing. SoftLayer, which is headed by Lance Crosby, has been exploring an acquisition for months.
