Slacker Signs More Music Labels

Slacker, the online personalized music service, said Thursday afternoon that it has added two sets of music labels to its services. Slacker said that it has signed agreements with major music studios EMI Music, Univeral Music Group, Warner Music Group to carry their content on its personalized music radio service; separately, the firm also said it has also added independents IODA, The Orchard, Beggars Group and Matador Records, IRIS, Ubiquity Records and Sanctuary Group PLC. to the service. Slacker will carry music content from all of the labels through its service, although it did not disclose terms of the deals. Slacker, which maintains its operations in Austin, offers both web-based streaming as well as a portable music player that is updated from its service via Wi-Fi. The company has an existing content deal with SONY BMG. Slacker is venture backed by Austin Ventures, Centennial Ventures, Mission Ventures, and Sevin Rosen Funds.
