Silicon Labs Funds Timing Startup

Austin-based Silicon Labs, a developer of mixed-signal, CMOS chips, has made a strategic investment in a California firm developing semiconductor timing ICs. According to Fremont, California-based Silicon Clocks,, Silicon Labs is funding the firm's Series C round, worth $10.3M, in addition to existing investors Tallwood Venture Capital, Charles River Ventures, Formative Ventures and Lux Capital. Silicon Labs' portion of the investment was not disclosed. Silicon Clocks is developing technology to embed timing circuits into CMOS semiconductors, an alternative to the discrete timing devices currently required for most chips. More information »
