SigmaTel Settles Patent Suit With Actions Semiconductor

SigmaTel Inc., a manufacturer of mixed-signal integrated circuits for the consumer electronics market, announced Wednesday that it has settled its patent infringement lawsuit with Actions Semiconductor. "SigmaTel decided that it is in the company's best interest to compete with Actions in the marketplace rather than in a court room," explained Phil Pompa, SigmaTel's chief operating officer. Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed. However, as part of the settlement, SigmaTel said both companies have dismissed all pending litigation against one another. Additionally, SigmaTel and Actions Semiconductor have adopted a three-year patent cross-license agreement. SigmaTel sued Actions Semiconductor in 2005 over its systems-on-a-chip technology for digital audio players. SigmaTel is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
