Samsung Boosts Hiring In Austin

Austin-based Samsung Austin Semiconductor reported Wednesday afternoon that it is in a big hiring push in the city, and is looking to hire 300 engineers and technicians in the first six months of the year. Samsung Austin Semiconductor said the hiring plans are part of a $3.6 billion expansion at its semiconductor plant here. The firm says is now employs approximately 1,700 people in its plant, after hiring over 600 employees in 2010. Samsung manufactures NAND Flash memory chips at the plant, the firm's only one outside Korea.
