Robin Raises $1.2M, Launches On-Demand Lawn Care Service

Dallas-based startup Robin has raised $1.2M in a seed funding round, and launched itself into the on-demand lawn care service, the company said this morning. Robin said the seed funding came from angels, including Brett Hurt (Bazaarvoice), Derek Chapin (Woot!), John Jaggers (Sevin Rosen Fund)s, Mahesh Chukkapali (Google for Work), Jeff Williams (Covara Ventures), Josh Deckard (Hammerstone Capital) and George Baker Sr. (Parkhub). The startup--founded by Justin Crandall and Bart Lomont--helps customers schedule lawn care instantly online or through a mobile app, pay online, and get upfront quotes on that care. The company says it wants to "bring lawn care into the 21st Century". Lawn care appears to be a popular industry for Austin startups--others serving the area include LawnStarter and Plowz and Mowz. Robin says it is providing its on-demand, lawn care services initially in Austin, Houston and Dallas. More information »
