RetailMeNot: Most Workers Plan to Shop While At Work, Today

It's Monday, and it's time to go back to...shopping? Austin-based RetailMeNot said over the weekend that it has found that 94 percent of employed consumers are planning to spend Monday shopping, even while they are at work--continuing a recent trend which has found that "Cyber Monday" is one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. According to RetailMeNot, it estimates those consumers plan to spend some of their time on their computer browsing and buying products, as they have for the past few years, in order to take advantage of both online deals and high speed Internet connections at work. RetailMeNot said that work productivity today typically has fallen due to all of that shopping. The company said its survey was conducted among 1,003 Americans ages 18 and over using email invitations and an online survey, and that the the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3.1 percentage points from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.
