Real Estate Software Firm Launches Harvey Housing Website

Real estate software developer Yardi said over the weekend that it has donated $1 million to relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey, and also launched a new website to help displaced residents find housing. According to Yardi, its new housing registry website is aimed at helping displaced residents find temporary and permanent homes, and is free to both housing providers and residents. Yardi normally provides offers up its marketplace software to housing providers for a fee, but has specifically opened up that marketplace to the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Yardi's RentCafe site currently lists a large selection of apartment rentals in Houston, however, it appears that some of those housing providers may not have updated their availability since the devastating stom; a spot check finds that a number of apartment complexes which were flooded out along Braeswood Boulevard in Meyerland (where residents were being airlifted by the Coast Guard), for example, still show availability of apartments.
