Rackspace Deploys OpenStack Cloud

San Antonio-based RackSpace said today that it has deployed the first large-scale, production ready cloud powered by OpenStack. The providing of cloud and other hosting services helped co-found the OpenStack effort, which provides a stack of open source software for deploying and managing cloud computing software. A significant amount of OpenStack is based on Rackspace's own cloud software efforts. Rackspace said it will be providing limited availability sign-ups for its Cloud Servers service, powered by OpenStack, with access starting on May 1st.
