Pluck Price Tag: $56.3M

An IPO filing Friday by Demand Media, the parent firm of Austin-based social media site Pluck, has finally revealed the official price paid for Pluck in March 2008. According to Demand Media's S-1 filing, it paid $56.3M to acquire Pluck, plus issued $10M in a one year promissory note related to the acquisition. Pluck had raised more than $15.5M in funding from such firms as Austin Ventures, Mayfield, and Reuters Venture Capital. Demand Media, which still owns pluck, said Friday that it is looking to raise up to $125M in its IPO, which is being underwritten by Goldman, Sachs & Co., Morgan Stanley, UBS Investment Bank, Allen & Company LLC, Jefferies & Company, Stifel Nicolaus Weisel, RBC Capital Markets, Pacific Crest Securities, Raine Securities, and JMP Securities.
