Pivot3 Targets VMware Virtual Desktop Users

Austin-based Pivot3, the developer of virtual computing appliances, looks to be sharpening its focus on VMware customers today, saying that it has launched a new "VMware View Channel Ready program", which it says has plans to add sixty VMware solution providers during the next six months. Pivot3 said its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) appliances are specifically aimed at providing a pre-configured VMware View virtual desktop environment to customers. VMware View is VMware's virtual desktop offering, which allows IT managers to manage corporate desktop images from a central location. Virtual desktops make it easier for companies to deploy consistent, updated desktop PC environment to their employees. Pivot3 is coming off a big, $23M venture injection from Samsung, Focus Ventures, InterWest Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mesirow Financial, Northleaf Capital Partners and Silver Creek Ventures, which it announced last week.
