OwnLocal Nabs New Funding

Austin-based OwnLocal, which develops products to help local publishers grow their web services, said today that it has raised a new round of funding. Amount of the funding was not announced, however, the firm said it now has raised around $2M in the last 18 months. The new funding was led by Automattic, the developer of the Wordpress blogigng software, and also included BaseLine Ventures, the Knight Enterprise Fund, 500 Startups, and Justin Kitch, founder of Homestead Technologies. The company said that other investors--found through AngelList--also participated. OwnLocal is headed by Lloyd Armbrust, and is a graduate of the YCombinator accelerator program; YCombinator is also an investor in the firm. OwnLocal offers up directory software, advetising tools, daily deals, web development software, and flash games to local newspapers and other publishers. More information »
