NextIO Launches Appliance

Austin-based NextIO, a developer of I/O virtualization appliances, said today that it has released a new product, its vCore C200 GPU Consolidation Appliance. The firm said the product is aimed at the high performance computing (HPC) market, and uses NVIDIA Tesla GPUs (graphical processing units). The firm's products are used in the implementation of software algorithms directly within hardware, used to accelerate computationally intensive applications such as high performance computing. The firm said the new appliance helps HPC environments hot-swap or add capacity "on-demand" without disrupting existing jobs running in those clusters. Pricing on the new product was not announced.
