Nepris Gets $1M To Connect Classrooms, Industry

Dallas-based Nepris, a startup developing an online community to connect classrooms with professionals, has raised $1M in a seed funding round. The funding was led by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), along with Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2), Investor's Circle Patient Capital Collaborative, Voqal and other angel investors. Nepris says its site helps bring together educators and industry professionals in an online community, to help enable live, online interactive sessions that show how what students are learning are applicable in the real world. The new service--think of a virtual "career day"--lets educators post requests for help on different topics and experts, and connects them via an online session with willing professionals to talk about those topics.
