Austin-based National Instruments (NI) has set the stage for a new CEO, saying this morning that it will appoint Alex Davern as the new CEO and President of the company, starting in January of next year. NI said that Davern will replace Dr. James Truchard, the 73 year old founder of the company, in the CEO position. Truchard will remain Chairman of the Board. Davern has been at National Instruments since 1997, and has been serving as Chief Operating Officer since 2010. Truchard founded NI in 1976, forty years ago, spending more than half his life heading up the company.
