Mirage Secures NYC Transit

Mirage Networks, a manufacturer of network security appliances, reported Wednesday that the nation's largest transportation agency will use Mirage's patented network access control device to protect its automated train network. The financial impact of the deal was not reported. New York City Transit, a division of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, serves some 7 million passengers each day. Mirage said NYCT is currently transitioning from a manual train control system to a computerized one, called communication-based train control, which will require absolute security to function properly. Mirage Networks is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
