Mavenir Partners With Ip.access
Richardson, Texas-based Mavenir Systems and ip.access, a developer of picocell and femtocell telecom infrastructure, said Thursday that the two have partnered. The companies said they will deliver new services for mobile phones, targeting "femtozone" cell phone access systems. Both firms provide systems and hardware targeted at providing better cell phone coverage in home. According to the companies, the integration may enable things like SMS alerts when family members enter or depart a home, automatic updating of presence information on social networking sites, and a "virtual" home number which rings both traditional phones, mobile phones, and PC clients within a home "femtozone." Mavenir is venture backed by Austin Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners and Alloy Ventures.
