Jordan Valley Acquires Assets of U.K.-Based Bede

Semiconductor equipment manufacturer Jordan Valley Semiconductors Ltd. announced Tuesday that it has acquired competitor Bede X-Ray Metrology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Despite being one of the leading suppliers of high-resolution X-ray scattering solutions, Bede entered into an administration phase—the United Kingdom's equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings—last month. Founded in 1978 as a spinout from England's University of Durham, Bede has been listed on the London stock exchange since 2000. Jordan Valley Semiconductors' research, development and manufacturing operations are based in Migdal Ha'Emek, Israel. Its applications engineering, customer support services and sales and marketing efforts are located here in Austin, Texas.
