Infochimps Gets $1.2M

Austin-based Infochimps, which operates an online marketplace for data sets, has raised $1.2M in a Series A funding. The round came from DFJ Mercury. Blair Garrou of DFJ Mercury joins the company's board as part of the funding. Infochimps has an online marketplace of very large data sets, including statistics, census information, online polls and more; the firm was the company which ran into some controversy in March over sales of MySpace data.
