iStore Adds Cloud Capability

Houston-based iStore, a developer of information systems for the oil and gas market, reported Thursday that it has added a new, cloud-based hosting service for its PetroTrek software suite. The firm said that it is using Microsoft's Windows Azure Service platform, allowing its users to eliminate the cost of deploying hardware and software when using its products. The firm said the move to support cloud computing would save it customers as much as $200,000 on hardware and software when deploying the product. iStore's products are used by oil and gas companies to access, organize, and visualize their exploration and production data.
