HouseCanary, With Co-Founder In San Antonio, Raises $33M

HouseCanary, a startup providing real estate data and analytics for real estate investors, lenders, and other real estate professionals, has raised $33M in a Series A funding, the company said late Thursday. The funding came from Hillspire (the family office of Eric Schmidt), Alpha Edison, ECA Ventures and Raven Ventures. Jeremy Sicklick is CEO and co-founder of HouseCanary, which he co-founded with Chief Scientist Chris Stroud. HouseCanary's technology is based on the Ph.D. thesis and dissertation of Stroud, who was at the University of Texas in San Antonio working on that Ph.D. when the company was founded. HouseCanary has an office in San Antonio, although all of its open positions and hiring appear to be at its San Francisco headquarters. Stroud's area of focus was on Dynamic Models of Financial Risk; the company said Stroud took a "delay" from his studies to co-found the company. More information »
