HID Global Ties Together Physical, IT Security With New Product

Austin-based HID Global, best known for its ubiquitous door access cards and other physical security systems, says it has rolled out an end-to-end identity and access management product which not only covers that physical security, but IT security as well. The company said its new HID PIV (Personal Identity Verification) system allows the use of a single credential for accessing doors, IT systems, networks, and data. The company says it is the first to offer such an end-to-end solution, which are aimed at government agencies and other organizations. Traditionally, physical security (ID cards, door access, etc.) have been managed in parallel with IT security by companies.
