HelioVolt Gets Award
HelioVolt Corp., a manufacturer of thin-film solar energy products, reported Thursday that it has received an R&D 100 Award from Research & Development Magazine for work performed in partnership with the U.S. Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The Austin, Texas-based company described the R&D 100 Awards as the "Oscars of Invention," adding that they celebrate the year's most significant commercial innovations from around the world. HelioVolt said it and NREL received their award for demonstrating a simpler, faster, end-to-end process for printing high-quality thin-film photovoltaic systems. The hybrid process, HelioVolt explained, produces large-grain, copper-indium-gallium-selenide thin-film solar devices that are to be integrated into products for the global solar energy market.
