Gowalla Rolls Out International Promotions

Austin-based social networking and check-in service Gowalla announced yesterday that it has rolled out a number of new international promotions. According to Gowalla, it has rolled out a new set of pins focused on hocket stadiums in Sweden, part of the Swedish Elite League; added higlights to spots around London related to Internet Week Europe; and added a featured event in Portugal, for the CodeBits IV conference. Financial details and business arrangements around the various European promotions were not announced. Gowalla competes against Foursquare, Facebook, and a number of other companies in the location-based checkin and promotions area, where people earn badges and awards for checking into physical locations and businesses.
